After the Transtint has dried, it also has a very flat looking finish. Much like the leather dyes, Transtint also allows you to see the natural beauty of the gourd marking through the finish. Gourds that we use Transtint on include the Elves, Cottages, and Caramelized snowmen. The last color coat we use on the gourds is Latex paint.
TransTint Dye colors are shown on curly maple. Colors may vary depending on species of wood used. Dye samples mixed from standard ratio of 1 oz. dye to 1 qt. solvent. Due to printing process, colors are approximate.We use 1 cup of water and dye dispensed by the milliliter (using syringes from McMaster Carr). Start with your water, alcohol, etc. and add 1 milliliter of color at a time. Dye some small samples and add another milliliter of dye and repeat.
