Jan 21, 2016 · Got a new crank, keyed it. Not that you did anything wrong. Plenty of builders reuse that stuff. I agree with Jaime more of those are popping up that reused the crank in a new build. There was a thread on dd like a month ago about it iirc, maybe longer. Sorry about your bad luck.

Bad news. I picked up a used crank and took it to a local engine builder along with the main caps and the caps wouldn’t pass inspection. The 3 mains in the middle heated up enough to pull the corners at the seam in .02 so it would be tight enough to not hold a bearing or even scrape the oil off and we’d be right back in the same boat.

Rotate the crank until the gap in the reluctor wheel teeth straddles the flange mounting surface of the upper oil pan. Loosen the nut on the oil pump, pull the oil pump drive gear off. Slide the reluctor wheel assembly off.
